Rendezvous

Filed under: Uncategorized — theinkhorn @ 5:27 pm

Its been an exhausting weekend. My first bartending gig since the one night stand with Hacienda has finally begun and its really beginning to bust my balls. The Public House is very very unconventional compared to all the other corporate, generic bars i’ve worked at. Completely different rules and procedures in there, so much so that i’ve been reduced to being taught how to run a bar by a noisy 23 year old girl who’s barely had more than 2 years of experience in the industry.

Its frustrating, seeing almost 5 years worth of experience go down the drain just like that, but hey, i should’ve known what was coming when i saw the sign that said “Dear patrons, if our drinks, food and service don’t meet your standards, PLEASE LOWER YOUR STANDARDS.”

That’s what impresses me about The Public House. In the face of all this competition, in a time where bar owners are making their employees work faster, wear neater uniforms and take less off days, they have the guts to run a bar where the staff wear what they want, take offs when they want and work at whatever pace they want. Its strange but it works because quite frankly, i have never seen more dedicated and hard working staff. I’ve been put to shame.
